Alternate Side Parking explores the complex interplay between personal adaptation and the role of chance in the creation of art. It is inspired by the concept of alternate side parking in New York City, which requires drivers to frequently adapt to parking regulations. The exhibit showcases works of art that reflect the resilience and creativity of artists in the face of established rules and change each in unique and different ways.
The exhibition curated by Anna Fateeva, Markus Holtby, and Oxana Kovalchuk.
Artists in the show include:
Lesley Bodzy, Marilla Cubberley, Justin Nissley, Emily Prosper, Harin Song, Linda Streicher, Lynnette Therese Sauer, Zach Zecha, Robert Zurer, and the collaboration between Wenjue Lu and Chufeng Fang.
Complimenting our current visual arts show, Alternate Side Parking, Starta Arta will be hosting its latest live art event, featuring action art presentations by Katie Cercone, Ronit Levin Delgado, and Li-Ming Hu. The show’s activists will include performance actions that include both personal engagement and observational distance.
All artwork shown is available for sale and can be picked up after the exhibition ends.
We are open by appointment only. For appointments please contact:
