With a world of change

During the pandemic we were in the middle of a generational change from everything we knew. At least it felt like that at the time. The effect of the pandemic on our way of life, both locally and globally, was enormous. Contemplating the growth out from that condition with an eye specifically on arts and culture was the focus of this panel discussion. History is ripe with cultural and artistic milestones emerging from cataclysmic events, many are from violent conflicts, but not all.  Within this framework questions were presented to the panelists to develop a discussion around the topic of world of change. For example: can we pull from any historical precedents to guide us in contemplating what the future arts and culture might look like, or will the increasingly virtual lives break unknown barriers? How might artistic and cultural change look within these shifts? The lively and contemplative discussion was held in the Starta Arta gallery space during an exhibition in late 2020.
