Jigsaw Snap
May 4 - 13, 2022
The first members’ 2022 exhibition Jigsaw Snap took a place at Starta Arta from May 4 through May 13, 2022, with a public opening reception on May 4, 2022. The show was curated by Maria Dusamp.
Jigsaw Snap represents a world that at times seems to conspire against itself. So much so that daring to divert inward in vanity, vapid joy, or useless fun may seem to tempt more wrong. But it is clear that being together is what we need and will always need, not by overlooking our personal lives but by noticing the similarities we share. Like this, we can piece a broader truth of who we are with each statement.
Starta Arta's first member's exhibition assembled the independent fervors of this community spent apart into a sorted one. The artists in this show tapped one another with a poignancy of feeling, images of religiosity, spirituality, and hesitation. They weaved within the other spaces entrenched in the psyche and those transported from reality. Separated by walls, buildings, and towns, these artists shared the same focused efforts, qualms, and victories found in their studios. What might seem like a jumble of visions can interconnect in their intricacy to reveal a landscape of experienced actuality. What's more, in the presence of others, we can discover more of ourselves and be grounded in the now.
